SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The National Hurricane Center has upped the chances for the 7th named season to develop in the next day or two. It now has the designation of an INVEST 91AL.
With this new title more forecast models are being run on this disturbance and it is showing a shift to the south so it looks like an encounter with the Lesser Antilles is imminent in about 6 to 7 days from now.
The American model shows a low end hurricane approaching the northern Leeward Islands while the EURO shows a tropical depression or low end tropical storm.
It now has a 90% chance of developing over the next several days and a 60% chance over the next day or so.
Since it is still over 2000 miles from Florida there is no need to be concerned about it at this time. There is however a lot of warm ocean
