DETROIT, MI – Former U.S. Rep. and Republican candidate for Michigan Senate Mike Rogers is urging Detroit’s mayor to call President Donald Trump for “backup” to help lower the city’s violent crime rates.

Rogers released a Sept. 4 statement calling on Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan to request federal support from Trump to “Make Detroit Safe Again.” He cited the president’s efforts calling in the National Guard to Washington D.C., calling it proof that bringing in federal law enforcement can help fight local crime.
