A 17-year-old girl from Haiti living in Massachusetts took the witness stand on Thursday against the man authorities charged with raping her last year at a state shelter for unhoused families.

“He did something bad to me,” the girl said in the trial of the Haitian man, Cory Alvarez, who faces a single count of aggravated rape of a child with a 10-year age difference in Plymouth County Superior Court.

The incident happened on March 13, 2024, at the Comfort Inn in Rockland, a hotel that state officials used at the time for the family shelter program. Officials say Alvarez was 26 at the time.
