For 100 years, this hall has stood proudly at the centre of the community it serves.

And for about 70 of those, David Bonney lived at Gunns Plains; it was where he grew up and where he raised his family.

Throughout that time, it was the Gunns Plains Community Hall that was the hub of the town.

For Mr Bonney's wife, Liz, the hall still remains "a focal point" a century later.

The pair, who now live at Squeaking Point, spent many years living on a farm up the road from the hall.

Mr Bonney said much of his adult life was spent as the hall's go-to handyman.

"Being a man with two hands, you're gonna end up with the job," he joked.

However, his memories of the hall go back much further.
