TYLER, Texas (KETK) -- Most universities are wrapping up their second week of classes, and at least four here in East Texas say they have welcomed a historic number of students this fall.

East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) is setting a campus record with 1,944 students this fall. Scott McCurdy, VP Enrollment and Administration at ETBU, said, "It's very encouraging because it shows that there's a real hunger, a real desire, throughout the region for the type of education that we offer at ETBU."

ETBU said they are feeling blessed to have the space to welcome all the new students.

“It's encouraging to look out and see full parking lots, but we're very blessed to have facilities that can support this new growth," McCurdy said.
