LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — A man died, and a dog is reported missing after a crash in Lackawanna County on Thursday.
According to state police, they responded to a report of one car rollover crash along the Casey Highway in Carbondale Township around 5:34 p.m.
Police say several witnesses saw 35-year-old Michael Propes driving at a high rate of speed and carelessly passing drivers. Propes then passed two pickup trucks that were on the right and left sides of the eastbound lanes, then made an abrupt right-hand turn, causing him to lose control and veer off the southern shoulder, striking a light post and concrete base.
The car overturned several times before coming to a rest on its roof at mile marker 12 near the Meredith Street exit ramp.
Propes was not wearing a seat belt at the time
