PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Northview Public Schools will be closed Friday for a “potential threat,” the school wrote in a letter to families and staff.

“Tonight we were notified of a potential threat, made by a student, directed at the district,” wrote Northview Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Christina Hinds and Interim Deputy Superintendent John Kraus in the Thursday night letter.

Law enforcement was contacted and is investigating, the district said. The decision to cancel school was “out of an abundance of caution.”

“We believe it is important to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff above all else,” the letter read.

The district said it will provide an update on whether evening activities will proceed as scheduled. The Northview High School boys
