MOORHEAD — A major renovation at Moorhead’s Romkey Park is underway, with the $11 million project promising new amenities and year-round community use.
The 66-year-old park had surpassed its intended lifespan by 25 years, making the overhaul a “much-needed” update, according to city officials. The project includes a new pool, the city’s only splash pad and several other additions.
Moorhead Parks and Recreation Director Sean Brandenburg said the updates will be a benefit for the entire community.
“I think this is going to be a real asset to the city of Moorhead,” Brandenburg said.
Heavy rains throughout the summer delayed construction by nearly two weeks, but Brandenburg said the project remains on budget and is scheduled to be completed by summer 2026.
