LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A pedestrian is dead after a crash in the northeast Las Vegas valley.

The crash occurred on Thursday shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Nellis Boulevard near Stewart Avenue.

Las Vegas Metro police told 8 News Now the pedestrian was struck as they were crossing the road next to a median.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The area will be closed to traffic during the police investigation.
