Police have confirmed today that the human remains found in South Australia a month ago was the missing head of Julian Story.

On July 31, a member of the public and his dog found what police believed to be the missing head of Story in scrublands in Port Lincoln.

A police forensic lab tested the remains and police confirmed today that they belong to Story.

"One of those situations where the dog ran off into the scrub, the dog didn't come back immediately on being called," Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said at the time of the discovery.
