NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Short Term (Friday & Saturday): A large weather system over the eastern U.S. will keep our area locked in a dry, northwest flow for the next couple of days. Friday will be very dry and stable, meaning skies will stay mostly sunny with no rain. Highs will climb into the low to mid-90s both Friday and Saturday, which is warmer than normal for early September. The good news is that humidity will stay on the lower side Friday, so heat index values should top out near 100° instead of much higher.

By Saturday, some upper-level moisture arrives with a disturbance dropping in from the northwest. This will bump humidity back toward normal levels for this time of year. Even with that increase, the atmosphere won’t be very supportive of storms, so only a few isolated showers are
