NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — French Quarter resident Karen Jeffries does not want the national guard here.
"I'm afraid that this is a slippery slope that once the president sends troops in, then the doors open for him to send more for may be a different motivation because to me that sounds like what dictators do," Jeffries said.
However, the New Orleans Police Department does have success in fighting crime in partnership with other agencies. Throughout Operation Golden Eagle the NOPD and several law enforcement partners teamed up to conduct 31 separate narcotic seizures.
In that time they seized marijuana, cocaine, meth and fentanyl all worth around $39,000.
Thirty-nine firearms were recovered and over 100 people were arrested as well.
"So this is just a testament of what partnerships look li
