Taylor Yonemura shows off an impressive catch at Salisbury Community Park on Sunday. - Submitted

SALISBURY — When Taylor Yonemura went fishing at Salisbury Community Park last weekend, she hoped to catch some fish, but she did not expect to reel in a monster.

Around 5 p.m., Taylor successfully landed a 38-inch flathead catfish. What made the catch even more impressive is that Taylor was hardly equipped to catch a fish so large. She was just using an ultra-light rod and 6-lb test line.

“It was an incredible thing to watch,” her father, Casey Yonemura, said. “The rod and reel (ultra-light) were obviously too small for the fight, but Taylor did well.”
