GREEN BAY — In the span of six months, the Green Bay Packers have put their money where their mouth is.

No, not because of last week’s trade-and-sign $188 million deal with edge rusher Micah Parsons. This investment — into three players, not one superstar — cost them considerably less but was still important.

By signing punter Daniel Whelan to a two-year contract extension on Thursday, the Packers now have all three of their specialists — Whelan, long-snapper Matt Orzech and kicker Brandon McManus — under contract for the next XX seasons.

Sports Illustrated reported that Whelan’s two-year extension is worth more than $7 million and includes more than $2 million in guaranteed money. The deal ties Whelan to the Packers through the 2027 season.
