PASADENA – Sometimes all you can do is smile and tip your hat.
That was sort of Maranatha football coach Rand Holdren’s reaction following a 43-0 loss to Rio Hondo Prep on Thursday night.
Rio Hondo Prep was without star running back Noah Penunuri (bruised ribs), but the Kares countered with nine players who carried the ball at different times, rushing for well over 300 team yards.
“Like everyone else in the SGV we’re still looking for their kryptonite,” Holdren joked. “You know, you watch it on film and you see it live, and what can you do? They’ve done it to us twice, last year and this year. (Coach) Mark (Carson) does a great job over there and they’ve been running the same system since birth.”
Carson was not at Thursday’s game due to a medical issue, but he would have been proud
