The UAF volleyball team returned to Anchorage Thursday after a 3-1 start to the season, opening play in the UAA Volleyball Invitational against Cal State San Marcos and earning a straight-set win in convincing fashion.

The team entered after a strong performance at the Hawaii-Alaska Challenge, where they began their season with two ranked wins. Individually, Elena Guc was named the GNAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her performances over the stretch.

Alaska looked to build on that momentum against Cal State San Marcos, who was opening their season in the meeting. It was a decisive win for the Nanooks in their first of three games this trip.
