Former AFL player Warren Tredrea has been ordered to pay $149,000 to cover legal costs that were accumulated by his ex-employer, Channel Nine, during part of the long-running court battle between the parties.
Early last year, the former Port Adelaide footballer lost an unfair dismissal case against Nine , where he had worked as a sports presenter.
Tredrea claimed his contract was terminated because he had not been vaccinated against COVID-19, but the Federal Court accepted Nine's counter-argument that his position was not going to be renewed because of his performance in the job.
Tredrea later lost the appeal he filed against the court's decision, and was subsequently ordered to reimburse the news network for its legal fees during that time.
