The Charlevoix Historical Society has selected Blas Tek LLC of Shelbyville, Michigan to lead the South Pier Lighthouse rehabilitation project.

The project will involve repairing and repainting both the interior and exterior of the lighthouse, according to a community announcement. Due to the nature of the work, which includes scaffolding, lead abatement and interior blasting, the area around the lighthouse will be closed for several weeks starting in the second week of September and potentially lasting until mid-October.
