The desperate search for beloved spearfisher Yong Li, who disappeared on Wednesday during a dive on the NSW Mid-North Coast, has ended in tragedy after authorities said they had discovered remains believed to be that of the diver.

Emergency services were called to Myall Lakes National Park at 10.50am on Wednesday after receiving reports Yong Li, a 32-year-old Newcastle based spearfisher, lost his way during a dive on the Mid-North Coast at Seal Rocks.

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Glenn Sullivan said radio operators at Marine Rescue Port Stephens were notified just after 10:30am that the diver got separated from his buddy.
