Supporters and detractors of Dominion Energy's planned gas plant in Chesterfield will soon have another opportunity to speak up.

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing 5 p.m. Monday at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chester to accept oral comments on the proposed gas plant that Dominion calls the Chesterfield Energy Reliability Center.

Plans for the gas plant include four natural gas-powered turbines that can generate up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity. Dominion is looking to place the plant at 500 Coxendale Road near the Chesterfield Power Station.

Dominion is seeking a Prevention of Significant Deterioration permit from the DEQ to construct and operate the power plant. Last month, the DEQ held a public briefing to explain the permitting
