COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Downtown Ramp-Up Project is slowly but surely making progress.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation tell 10TV the Interstate 71 southbound flyover ramp is expected to open by the end of the year.

The Downtown Ramp-Up Project is a $1.4 billion project. Construction officially kicked off in 2022 and still has a way to go. But the opening of the flyover ramp, connecting I-71 southbound traffic downtown, will make your downtown commute a little easier.

Right now, drivers heading on I-71 southbound have to get on I-70 in order to continue on I-71 south of downtown.
