Katharine, Duchess of Kent — the wife of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent — has died at the age of 92.

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, the Duchess had been the oldest living member of the British royal family.

Buckingham Palace announced her passing on Friday evening, stating that she “passed away peacefully,” surrounded by her family at Kensington Palace.

“The King and Queen, along with all members of the Royal Family, join the Duke of Kent, his children, and grandchildren in mourning their loss and remembering fondly the Duchess’s life-long devotion to the organisations she supported, her passion for music, and her empathy for young people,”
