VATICAN CITY ( WSFA ) - A little piece of Alabama is now part of the papal collection at the Vatican, and it may even help out Pope Leo XIV if he finds a chill in the air!
“I was proud to share the great things happening at home with Pope Leo and present him with a memento from Troy University!” said Cam Ward, who serves as director of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles, as well as a board member on the Troy University Board of Trustees.
On Wednesday, the pope accepted a Troy University quilt from Ward, who was visiting Rome. Ward shared several photos on his social media after the interaction.
“I met with his holiness the Pope regarding criminal justice issues as part of a delegation of leaders and advocates on various issues from multiple states,” Ward told WSFA 12 News.
