CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Students across North Carolina and the country will walk out of class on Friday to protest gun violence in America's schools .

The protests, organized by Students Demand Action, include schools in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh. WRAL-TV reported that six Wake County high schools and NC State University will participate in the Raleigh protest.

Charlotte's demonstration is scheduled for noon at First Ward Park.

"We are walking out of our schools again at home to make sure lawmakers know that we need gun safety at all levels," organizers wrote. "We know this work takes all of us, and that’s why we are continuing to fight to make sure that when we walk into school, we are guaranteed to walk out."
