LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Nevada DMV systems were fully operational Friday, with licenses and identification services back online after a cyberattack that shuttered the department’s in-person services for nearly two weeks.

Visitors waiting for service outside the Nevada DMV location in Henderson expressed frustration with the inconvenience and uncertainty brought on by the statewide shutdown. John Coolack, a Henderson resident since 2009, said he was turned away several times as officials worked to recover from the ransomware-based attack. Coolack’s main criticism was the DMV’s lack of a backup plan.

“They need to have a backup plan,” Coolack said. “Wake up and ask people what the real issues are.”
