AUSTIN, Texas — A woman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a deadly wreck in southeast Austin on Monday night.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), officers responded to a two-vehicle wreck in the eastbound lanes of 5200 E. Ben White Blvd at 9:46 p.m. Sept. 1.

Police said the passenger in one of the vehicles -later identified as Sheyla Alejandra Mascorro- was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that same vehicle, later identified as Sonia Edith Ramos, was arrested for intoxication manslaughter.

Police said this incident is Austin's 71st fatal crash of 2025. The crash remains under investigation.
