ATLANTA — Gabriel Sterling has entered the 2026 secretary of state race.
The Republican spent years in the Georgia Secretary of State's Office as one of current Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger's top lieutenants and rose to national prominence in the wake of the 2020 presidential election for his role in defending the validity of Georgia's results.
According to the bio on Sterling's X account, he recently left the Secretary of State's Office.
He is now launching a campaign to lead it.
Publicly-accessible records show that Sterling filed a "Declaration of Intention to Accept Campaign Contributions" form with the state ethics commission on Tuesday.
That document is the formal starting point for candidates to begin fundraising for a campaign.
