The Honolulu Police Department has opened a murder investigation after officers found an unresponsive woman in an Aiea home Thursday morning.

District 3 patrol officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call shortly after 11 a.m., according to HPD.

“Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive adult female within the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene,” the department said in a statement. “Initially, this case was classified as an unattended death. The investigation revealed that the victim sustained fatal traumatic injuries.”

Police have not released the woman’s age, the nature of her injuries, the reason officers were called to the home or other details surrounding the case.
