LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville couple just got a little richer.
The couple won $50,000 on the Powerball during the game's $1.7 billion jackpot run, Kentucky Lottery officials said. They bought their ticket at the Kroger on Bardstown Road on Aug. 31.
The couple, who wished to remain anonymous, said they bought their ticket after having brunch with friends, and checked it after the Labor Day Powerball drawing.
While the wife was happy with a $100 win, officials said she decided to check it one more time before cashing it.
“I guess I was just crazy when I first looked at it because I realized I forgot to look at the Powerball number,” she joked.
But she was home alone when she realized she won the $50,000 because her husband was at an event where he was unreachable.
When he got home, th
