Summer of Soul, an Academy Award, Critics Choice, and Grammy Award-winning documentary, will be screened at the West Toledo Branch library Monday.

The film, directed by Ahmir Thompson, the musician and producer professionally known as Questlove, “revisits the summer of 1969 when thousands of people attended the Harlem Cultural Festival to celebrate Black history, culture, music and fashion,” a library release said.

It includes unpublished footage of performances by Nina Simone, B.B. King, Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, and Gladys Knight & the Pips.

The 6 p.m. event in the branch auditorium, 1320 W. Sylvania Ave., includes the viewing, light refreshments, and discussion.
