NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn is pushing to end cashless bail nationwide.

Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) introduced the bills ending cashless bail policies that they believe empower criminals to reoffend.

Here’s what the bills would do:

The Ending Cashless Bail in Our Nation’s Capital Act would ban cashless bail in Washington, D.C.

The Keep Violent Criminals Off Our Streets Act would ban the award of certain federal funds to states and localities that limit the use of cash bail.
