U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson kicked off her first 99-county tour as a U.S. Senate candidate, promising to "stand up for President Trump" and focus on "common sense policies."

The newly announced Republican candidate walked into Bevy's Tavern in West Des Moines on Friday, Sept. 5, to cheers as she shook hands and hugged supporters.

Hinson, a Republican who lives in Marion, represents northeast Iowa's 2nd District in Congress. She entered the Senate race on Sept. 2 , hours after incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst said she would not seek reelection in 2026 .

Hinson emphasized her support for President Donald Trump's agenda.
