FWC Gives Green Light for Harvest After Water Samples Show Toxin Levels Have Returned to Safe Thresholds
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) announced Friday that the recreational bay scallop harvest in the Pasco Zone will reopen on Saturday, September 6, for a limited season. The reopening comes after a temporary closure put in place due to elevated levels of a naturally occurring marine toxin.
The Pasco Zone, which includes all state waters south of the Hernando-Pasco county line and north of the Anclote Key Lighthouse in northern Pinellas County, including the Anclote River, will be open for harvest from September 6 through September 21.
