CARBONDALE — The SIU Alumni Association will honor Col. Niki J. Lindhorst, a 1995 Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduate and decorated officer with the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, along with 11 other distinguished alumni — including members of the Little Rock Nine — at ceremonies next month.

Lindhorst will receive the 2025 SIU Distinguished Alumni Award, the association’s highest honor, during an invitation-only ceremony at 3 p.m. Oct. 3 in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium. A reception will follow in the Hall of Chancellors and Presidents.
