BOWLING GREEN — Only one player has been with Eddie George for the first five seasons of the former Heisman Trophy winner’s coaching journey, and that standout has developed into a true leader for him on and off the field.
Jalen McClendon, a senior cornerback who played for George for four years at Tennessee State before following his mentor to Bowling Green State University in the offseason, has gained the respect of his coaches and teammates throughout his college career. A captain for Tennessee State last season, McClendon earned that honor in his first season at BGSU, as well.
“It’s a pleasure for me man. It’s a pleasure to see that my character (has been noticed), it’s good to see that I have people that look up to me, see me as bigger than what I usually see myself,” McClendon said
