There is no easing Jack Kelly into the Western Mustangs running game.

The dynamic ball carrier rushed for 121 yards on four carries – including a 62-yard touchdown – in the Mustangs’ 53-33 dismantling of the Guelph Gryphons last weekend.

“The halfback Sandro (Pierini) set the block perfectly,” said the native of tiny La Salette, Ont., in Norfolk County. “About halfway through, I saw my receiver make a downfield block. I thought, ‘Man, I’m going to go untouched for my first touchdown’.

“To have my first touchdown at home with the boys was just an amazing feeling.”
