A MAN has admitted to breaking into an East Tamworth home and stealing goods in broad daylight not long after he had reported to bail by police.

The Leader can reveal the facts in the case almost 12 months on from the brazen break-in after Imraaz Ali pleaded guilty to targeting the home in Yarral Avenue.

He admitted to one count of break-and-enter, and stealing a Patagonia backpack and a GoPro, worth more than $700, just after 2 o'clock on the afternoon of September 17, 2024.

Ali appeared on video link from custody in Tamworth Local Court where the police prosecution confirmed the case would remain in the local court, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) elected not to take on the case in the district court which carries heavier penalties.
