Detroit — Tigers relief pitcher Kyle Finnegan was placed on the 15-day injured list with an adductor strain, the team announced Friday before opening a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox at Comerica Park.
Center fielder Parker Meadows was activated and in Friday's starting lineup. He was batting ninth in manager AJ Hinch's lineup.
Finnegan felt tightness in his right groin while warming up before the seventh inning Wednesday during the Tigers' 6-2 win over the New York Mets. He left the bullpen and went into the clubhouse through the dugout.
The Tigers acquired Finnegan from the Nationals on July 31 for minor leaguers Josh Randall and R.J. Sales. Finnegan has made 12 very effective appearances for the Tigers with no runs, 19 strikeouts and three walks covering 14.1 innings
