OTTAWA — It was an ass-over-elbows flip-flip.

That’s how Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre described Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision Friday to downshift the government’s EV mandates and conduct a 60-day review on the entire program.

“Today, he’s flip-flopped,” Poilievre said Friday afternoon outside of West Block.

“After being a passionate advocate for banning gas-powered vehicles, calling for them to be banned in 2030 in his book _Values_ — which by the way was much more aggressive than Trudeau’s plan to ban them in 2035 — he’s finally admitted that the Conservatives were right, just like we were right on the carbon tax.”
