More than 500,000 people in Ohio and Pennsylvania have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
A Walk to End Alzheimer's is set for Saturday and will take place at Buhl Park, 715 Hazen Rd. in Hermitage.
Anyone wishing to participate can register on the website or at 9 am at the park.
The walk is to honor those affected by Alzheimer's with a Promise Garden ceremony — which the Shenango Valley Alzheimer's Association calls "a mission-focused experience that signifies solidarity in the fight against the disease."
Walkers will carry flowers of various colors, each color representing their personal connection to the disease.
The opening ceremony is set for 10 am and will be followed by the walk.
