LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -Three people are set to stand trial connected to an alleged identity theft and unclaimed property fraud scheme totaling more than half a million dollars.

Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a press release that 46-year-old Averill Dintaman, 51-year-old Daniel Nolan, and 59-year-old Dwayne Johnson allegedly conspired to steal the identity of a victim and forged a fraudulent durable power of attorney to obtain an unclaimed property check in the victim’s name for $579,551.99.

Johnson then allegedly posed as the victim to appear in person at the Department of the Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Office to obtain a second copy of the check.

The case was then referred to Nessel’s office by the Department of the Treasury.
