RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says it has lifted fire restrictions.
The department says it has come to this decision after evaluating current wildland fuel moisture levels.
Recreational appliances, such as charcoal briquettes and outdoor wood fires, are now allowed provided they are confined to outdoor fireplaces and fire pits.
Restrictions on operating small equipment powered by an internal combustion engine have also been lifted.
Open pile burning, including the use of burn barrels and bonfires remain prohibited.
“We are pleased to lift most fire restrictions in the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District,” said Fire Chief Richard Edwards. “Please be careful and never leave an open flame unattended. Always have a water source or fire extinguisher
