BUNCOMBE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- A man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection to the 2023 killing of Jeruan Spencer.

According to the District Attorney's Office for Buncombe County, 27-year-old Javorie Ammon Thompson was charged after an investigation done by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, Asheville Police Department and other law enforcement groups.

Investigation Details

On August 10, 2023, Spencer's body was found by a passerby in a wooded area of McKinney Road in Candler. Deputies then initiated a homicide investigation.

Officials said physical evidence at the scene lead deputies to believe that the killing did not take place in the area where Spencer's remains were found.
