AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - University of South Carolina Aiken is renaming its student activities center in honor of a man who led the university for more than 15 years.

Chancellor Emeritus Robert Alexander led the university from 1983 until 2000.

During his time, he expanded the Gregg-Graniteville Library, guided the construction of Pacer Downs, the children’s center and multiple academic buildings.

Alexander also increased enrollment among undergrads by 70 percent. We spoke with the current chancellor about the impact Alexander had on him.
