Community-based cooling locations and misting tents are open in Surrey and White Rock on Friday.
The Homelessness Services Association of B.C. issued an alert on Friday (Sept. 5) due to temperatures in the region feeling like they are at or above 29˚C.
Temperatures in White Rock are expected to reach at least 23°C, with a humidex of 30˚C on Friday, according to Environment Canada. There is also a special air quality statement in effect due to wildfire smoke.
The following community-based locations in Surrey and White Rock will be active unless noted otherwise:
Bill Reid Place: 17752 Colebrook Pl. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It has a misting tent and water. Pet friendly.
