It started as a missing person case before evolving into a homicide investigation spanning six crime scenes in five council areas across South East Queensland.
This week police found human remains, thought to be those of 56-year-old cybersecurity manager Andrew Burow, in a shallow grave more than 200 kilometres west of his Brisbane home.
Two men have been charged with torture, and harrowing details have emerged about what the Kelvin Grove father may have endured after he disappeared.
Police have given few public statements about the case, but prosecutors have alleged Mr Burow was filmed as he was beaten with "weapons and instruments".
The names and addresses of his elderly parents were found at a property on the Sunshine Coast, along with a scorched mobile phone and zip ties.
