"I think at the time, I thought, 'You know, we're probably going to have to ban this,'" she said.

Over time, however, she found that students are keen to maintain their critical thinking skills and personal voice.

"They don't want to lose their critical thinking skills. They don't want to lose their sense of self or their voice," Girdharry said.
