President Donald Trump invited Bill Gates to the White House — and some in MAGA world did not take it well.
Trump hosted a dinner for top tech leaders on Thursday as he touted research on artificial intelligence and investments in the United States. More than a dozen executives attended — including Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, as well as Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s Tim Cook, OpenAI‘s Sam Altman, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella — who showered the president with praise and pledged to boost spending in the country.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk , once a close ally of Trump before having a public breakup , was notably absent. He said on his social media platform X that he had been invited, but was unable to attend, and sent a representative instead.
