The Colorado State Patrol on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old motorcyclist for riding on Interstate 25 at 142 mph, according to a news release from the agency.
When asked why he was riding at more than double the speed limit, Matthew Galek said “no reason,” according to body cam footage provided by CSP.
“I just got the bike. I’m sorry. I got a little excited,” he said.
A CSP aircraft first spotted Galek riding north on Interstate 25 between Larkspur and Castle Rock and estimated his speed at well over 100 mph. They also saw him weaving across double solid white lines to pass other vehicles, according to the CSP news release. They later clocked his exact speed.
