MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) - A suspect who allegedly led police on a chase and caused a car to crash into a building is on the loose, the Monona Police Department said.

According to MOPD, on September 5, an officer saw a vehicle heading westbound on US 12 in Monona, weaving in its lane and driving at different speeds.

The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over as the driver’s behavior showed signs of drunk driving.

MOPD said the vehicle pulled over on the right side of the highway. Authorities spoke with the driver, later identified as Derrick Cole, who was the only person in the vehicle.

During the conversation, the officer reported smelling alcohol and burnt marijuana, MOPD noted.
